Late in the afternoon on Wednesday, officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department were called to the area of Fairbrook Court in Severn, where there was a reported suspicious minor who had a weapon.

Responding officers spoke with a minor who said he was walking in the park between Fairbrook Court and Briarview Court when two teens approached him, one with a handgun, before chasing him down.

A second juvenile in the area also reported a similar incident.

An investigation led police to identify a 14-year-old suspect, and on Thursday, a search of his family's home led to the recovery of a weapon that was used during the incident.

The 14-year-old Severn resident was "charged accordingly," police say.
